Live Bee Removals

At Dan the Honeyman, we are passionate about bees and the important role they play in our environment.  Our honeybee removal is a humane process that involves relocating a bee colony without harming the bees. We start with a visual inspection to determine the best approach and an estimate for removal cost. The bees are then gently coaxed into a special bee box using smoke or a bee vacuum, which calms them and minimizes aggression. The hive, including the queen, workers, and brood, is carefully transferred to the box and are relocated one of our ideally located apiaries where they can continue to thrive. This method ensures the preservation of the bee colony and helps maintain the ecological balance. 

Residual bees are the bees that remain in the area after a hive has been removed. These bees may have been out foraging when the removal took place and return to find their hive gone. They can also be bees that were not captured during the removal process. Residual bees typically linger around the original hive location for a few days, searching for their colony. Over time, they either join another nearby hive or disperse and eventually die off if they cannot find a new home. Proper removal techniques aim to minimize the number of residual bees by ensuring as many bees as possible are relocated with the hive.
